Web-Based Architecture
eClinicalWorks is built on a
robust Web-based architecture.
Using Java JSP technology,
developers and
designers can rapidly develop
and maintain dynamic
Web pages. The
technology enables developers
to create reusable,
platform-independent parts.
JSP technology uses XMLlike
tags and scriptlets written
in Java to encapsulate
the logic that generates
page content. The JSP technology
includes Servlets,
Java Beans, and JDBC.
Two-Train Architecture
The two-train HTTP architecture
lets large practices
upgrade live, in real-time
on one train, while the application
continues seamlessly
on the other train.

from centralized services,
including security,
backup, and disaster
recovery.
• Hybrid Model provides
complete disaster
recovery while
housing the application
and database in

Security
To safeguard eClinical-
Works resources and ensure
data integrity and HIPAA
compliance, we provide
database and file-level
encryption. Our security
model includes tight controls
that let Administrators
carefully restrict access to
system components. Security
for Web-based access
is further enforced with
digital certificates, SSL,
HTTPS protocols, and audit
trails.
Auto-Upgrade
A “1-click” Auto-upgrade
allows customers to stay
up-to-date with software
and database changes, using
a live, Internet-based
update program similar to
